Two figures (possibly the photographer's wife and son) point towards smoke billowing across open moorland. The only clue to what is going on is the following inscription on the rear of the original print which reads: 'Passed by Censor. Owler Bar Moorlands.' This suggests a date during World War Two and rather than this being a wildfire incident, it may well be a defensive smoke test. Further information would be welcome.
