The location of this view is not known for certain but it is in limestone country within the Peak District. On the far side of the river is a footpath with a sign visible beside the stone wall, while the post left of centre indicates the presence of either a telephone or electricity transmission route.

One possibility is the River Wye in the lower part of Monsal Dale below Fin Wood but this has not been verified.
