The barracks were built in 1874-7 and closed in 1963. Today the site is occupied by The Showcase Cinema and the Oast House Pub.

This image is one produced by F.W. Scarratt for his postcard series. An original glass negative of this view shows the handwritten title, "The Barracks, Derby, No. 993" indicating that it was published in 1915. (Information kindly supplied by Brett Payne).
