‘Welcome to Picture the Past... which now contains over 100,000 images!

We are proud to announce that we recently added the 100,000th image to the website, this marks quite a milestone for us and shows the on-going commitment and hard work put in by everyone who contributes to the running of the project, including all the staff out in libraries and museums involved in sourcing, collating and sending the images to us.

It’s also a great reflection on the enthusiasm for the project shown by you, and others like you, that continue to use, and enjoy being able to access the photographic collections via the website

Take a journey into your past with images of

The libraries and museums of Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire have in their collections, hundreds of thousands of historic photographs, slides, glass plates, postcards and engravings recalling the history of the local communities over the last hundred years and more.

Now the local authorities, with the help of the Heritage Lottery Fund, have made it possible to search all these images on the internet, via this unique website.
